We will be having a Local Chairman's
meeting next week and if any of the members have concerns please
contact myself, or your Local Chairman, our e mail addresses are in
the website and our phone numbers. Last week we had a member get in
an incident. Road Foreman Bartholomew, from Pasco, went out of his
way to contact myself and inform me of the issue.
It would have been a ugly situation if this had not happened, with
the member not contacting a Local Chairman, and the investigation
held in absence. This was partly because the member did not know
what to do with contacting someone. The member stated he had not
been in trouble before, which is great. The newer members must find
out who their Local Chairmen are, this is for your protection. The
introduction class with Local Chairmen you have been advised what we
do with the union, and why, It is in your interest you take some
time and call and get to know this person, questions on the schedule
or other matters. Do not rely on what you hear in the waiting room,
there have been instances where somebody almost got into real
trouble, because they took some well intentioned advise, and it was
wrong, in one instance, almost led to an insubordination issue.
The whistle issue is real, and at the last Local Chairman's meeting,
FRA inspector Matt Brewer, stated we are doing a good job around
Spokane with the whistle, with no exceptions, let's keep it that
way.
Read the whistle violation info from Dave Dealy here.
Springs here and that means lawns, mowing, remember that in the rule
book it states PPE gear is for home use also, keep it safe and use
it for your protection, its free.
Take care.
